The Albertville Fire Department (AFD) was established in 1940. Currently the AFD covers 26 square miles and serves over 16,000 people in the Cities of Albertville and Otsego, Minnesota.

The AFD is a combination Fire Department, and consists of one full-time Fire Chief, 30 Paid-On-Call firefighters, and 3 Reserve Firefighters.

The AFD leadership team includes the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, four Captains, and three Lieutenants.


Each AFD member is State certified, and licensed, to the minimum standards of Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Material Operations, and MN State Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board-Certified Emergency Medical Responder. Many members choose additional State certifications in Fire Apparatus Operator, Fire Instructor, Fire Officer, Fire Investigator, Hazardous Materials Technician, and Emergency Medical Technician

“The mission of the Albertville Fire Department is to minimize the loss of life and property from fire, natural disaster, and hazardous material incidents; and to save lives by providing emergency services in life threatening situations in the Cities of Albertville and Otsego; and to perform these services in a safe and efficient manner by maintaining effective emergency response, life safety principles, fire suppression initiatives, and fire prevention training.” Albertville Fire Department
