As of August 2021, the City of Albertville no longer requires a City pet license. 

While City pet licenses are no longer required, pet owner must still:

• Have proof of rabies vaccination for all cats and dogs over the age of six months old.
  

• Provide dogs and cats with some type of identification. Identification allowed include microchips, tags or collars with contact information and phone number(s) inscribed on it. 
• Apply for a Commercial Kennel license if they have more than two dogs. (A pet owner may have three dogs if one or more are service animals as define in the City ordinance.)
• Adhere to all City Code requirements relating to Animal Control.  

The City of Albertville contracts with the City of Monticello for animal control. Please contact their Animal Control Authority at 612-859-6989 and/or Wright County Sheriff's Office by dialing 9-1-1 if you require assistance with an animal.

Common Issues

Dogs At Large:
No dog shall be allowed by it owner to run at large and the dog owner shall: 

• Confine the dog to the owner's property by training, fencing  or leashing.
• When in public places, such as a school, playground or park, to be on a leash, chain or cord of not more that six feet and in the custody of a person of sufficient age to adequately control the dog at all times.
• While in all other places, such as on  a public street or in an automobile, to be in the custody of a person of sufficient age to adequately control the dog at all times, and to have and keep said dog under control. 

Dogs Disturbing the Peace:

It shall be unlawful for any person to own or keep a dog which shall by any noise, unreasonably or excessively disturb the peace and quiet of any person in the vicinity including habitual barking which is defined as barking or crying for repeated intervals of at least three minutes with one minute or less of interruption. Such barking or crying must also be audible off of the owner’s or caretaker’s premises. Repeated barking or crying due to harassment or injury to the dog or a trespass upon the premises where the dog is located shall not be a violation of the City Code.
