Home Menu2024 Street Improvement Project and Updates
The City of Albertville has awarded a contract to Omann Contracting, Inc. for the City’s 2024 Street Improvements Project. The project consists of milling 2‐inches of the existing street surface and placing 2‐inches of new pavement. Prior to the overlay, there will be some minor patching and limited curb replacement. Please note that curb repairs will be limited, and not every section of settled or damaged curb will be replaced.
Schedule
Work is scheduled to begin the week of July 8th and will be complete by the end of September. Generally, the construction sequence will start with pavement milling, followed by curb repair and patching, and complete with street paving.
What to Expect
Impacts will vary depending on the amount of curb repair and patching required on each street. It will be dusty during milling and patching operations. On the day that paving occurs you will have restricted access to your driveway. Just before overlaying the road, the contractor will apply a bituminous tack coat to the surface of the road. We recommend you avoid driving on this tack coat. Also, please avoid driving on the fresh pavement until it has been rolled and avoid parking on it until it has cooled. Depending on weather, the road should be rolled within 30 minutes of paving. You should have access to your driveway at all other times during the project unless curb removal or patching is required in front of your driveway. When the contractor is working on your street, please follow the directions given by the workers.
Parking
There will be days when on‐street parking will interfere with construction activities and will not be permitted. During construction, please avoid parking on the street if you will not be home to move your vehicle if needed.
Sprinklers, Underground Fencing, and Landscaping
Property owners are asked to mark all sprinkler head and underground fencing located in the right-of-way prior to construction.
